my lincon ls pulls up codes 171 and 174 too lean and battery light is on.

  Yes lean right and left bank, you didn't say what year it was but you should check for vacuum leaks. Try the PCV and EGR systems first. The battery light has nothing to do with your codes probably an alternator or at least a chaging issue.
