Question

Timing problems 93 S10 blazer

Sent to Car Experts February 26, 2005 1:52 p.m.

I have a 1993 chevy S10 blazer with a 4.3 V6 CPI injected motor that I rebuilt all brand new parts. NO trouble codes have been detected.
My problem is that when I start my 20 min break in at 2100 Rpms my engines starts knocking and then my exhaust starts glowing red starting at the end of the Y pipe and glows all the way back to the tail pipe, The whole exhaust is brand new also.
I beleave my timming is not set correctly, and I don’t know why or how to correctly set Base timming.
My book says to disconnect the ESC wire from the back of the distributor but when I disconnect any of these wires the engine won’t start?
and all the veci label under the hood says is to set timming at 0 btdc
could you tell me exactly how to set the timming correctly?
Thank you very much, James
