I would like to know how to set the timing on a 1991 Toyota Truck 22r.

  If your truck is fuel injected there is no timing adjustment posibble and should not be attempted.

I am going to run this information down to my friend that is working on my truck and then I will let you know if your answer was accurate it should take me about 20 min. Will that be ok? I went and talked to my friend. We have the number 1 piston up, there is a mark on the cam sprocket and a mark on the crank shaft but there is no mark on the timing chain. Our manual says there are 2 shiny marks on the timing chain. But we dont see that.

 I guess you needed to be more specific of what you were doing. He's been giving you info on ignition timing, not valve timing.

Yes, 2 liinks are shinier than the others and need to be aligned with the timing marks. I assume your using a new chain.
