Question

The blazer will not get much over 25 miles per hour

Sent to Car Experts January 22, 2005 1:50 p.m.

It starts fine, it stalls sometimes and it will not get above 25 miles per hour. We fixed an oil leak and a coolant leak.

Is there a lack of power or does the engine rev high when driving 25 mph?

Check for a plugged fuel filter or low fuel pressure. What year and engine is your Blazer?

1992 4.3 vortec. the engine ID in the VIN is W (the eighth character). I am told that that is the character for the type of engine. Could it be the Idle Air controll or the EGR? We are going to replace the fuel filter tomarrow and see what that does. Thank you so much for your help.   Julie

Hi Josh:
They changed the fuel filter today and the truck no longer stalls, however, when it gets at 1/2 throttle it goes bad. Bucks, and stutters. What do you think?

Is there anyway to adjust the TPS (throttle positioning sensor)?

Does it stall when not moving? If you pump the throttle can you get higher RPM without stalling? If so, you need to have the fuel pressure checked. there shouldn't be any adjustment for the tps.
