1999 Ford Ranger 4X4 ECT Sensor
Sent to Car Experts December 18 07:27 AM

Ok, I just purchased a 1999 Ford Ranger 4X4. It only has 54,000 miles. It seems that when shifting from second to third it takes a little longer than is should to shift. After you drive it awhile and it warms up, the O/D off light starts blinking, oviously sending codes. I had a tranny shop check it out and the said the ECT sensor was out. They did not know which one was the
sensor to replace. Help tom

What you are looking for is the "engine coolant temperature sensor".
It should located on or near the thermostate housing. It screws into the engine and tells the ECM what the water temp of the engine is.
