Question

Firebird with intermittent start problem

Sent to Car Experts December 13, 2004 7:54 p.m.

I have a 1991 Firebird that starts sometimes, runs great and doesn't even miss. Sometimes when I turn the key it does everthing up to lighting the dash lights but will not crank. When this happens I have no voltage present at either the starter start wire or the coil. Since I have already replaced the Ignition switch, I was thinking an Ignition lock cylinder problem, but everone I have talked to so far says that they have not seen this be a intermittent problem. They say that when the lock cylinder wires break connection it will not start at all. Can you help me?
