(Not a Car Question?)

should the bad sensors be covered under the twelve month warranty?
Sent to Car Experts October 14 06:36 PM

I had a used engine installed in my car. It cost me 2,000. I was given a 12 month warranty on parts. It also states that all repair work has to be performed in our shop. Two days later the check engine light came on. I took it back to the shop. The mechanic did a diagnostic check and he said that the engine sensors were bad and that I would have to pay for that because the twelve month warranty did not apply to the sensors. sensors was not covered under the twelve month warranty. Is he correct, or is he trying to take advantage of me.

hi zelda, in 2 days they should certainly be responsible, for the mere fact, that they may have caused it! also the warranty would have to depict this very thing, in my shop we would handle with a smile. However,if they dont back down, consult your states dmv to interveen and mediate the situation.   Call back if you need to, thanks C/B.

Reply to carboss's Post: does my twelve month warranty cover the sensor problem, yes or no? I feel that if certain parts are not covered that should be stated or implied in the warranty. The day that I picked the van up it was smoking from the tail pipe and leaking oil underneath.

Hi zelda they may not be under 12 mo. wty but should be after 2 days, it may be there policy, also, the smoke and oil leak should be covered, you may need second opinion to evaluate the integrity of this used engine and have them bring it up to par or replace it, again i dont know the arraingements. im trying to explain the way it should be handled without raising feeling of being taken advantage, just my opinion tring to help good luck. C/B.
