I have a Honda Sportrax 250EX. I started the engine, pressed the red button for reverse.
The quad backed up for about four feet before the engine stalled. I am now unable to shift the transmission back into neutral. I have tried 'rocking' the quad with no results.
Is there a solenold keeping the reverse gear locked?

Optional Information:
2003 Honda Sportrax 250EX

Already Tried:
Rocking the quad back and forth.

Believing the red reverse button is electronic as opposed to mechanical, I disconnected the battery cables. Then rocked the quad, moved the shift lever down a number of times, reconnected the cables with no results.

I tried holding in the shift/brake lever (the left one) and pushing the start button. Nothing.

When the key is turned on, the 'run' light is a bright red. The battery is obviously charged.

Do you have any suggestions???

Reply to 32dmadden's Post: No. The quad still appears to be locked in reverse.

It sounds to me like it is mechanical problem. Something has jammed in the reverse gear system. Most likely it will have to be disassembled. I have a good friend that is a service mgr. at the honda dealer. Monday I can get him to give me the run down on that system if you haven't found out any thing by then.
