Can 3rd set of tires releive front end vibs???
Sent to Car Experts October 10 04:05 PM

I have a 2000 Ford Ranger, 88k miles, 2wdrive, camper shell & 'Calif. carpet kit' in the back. Truck has developed vibrations in the front end, moderate at 35 mph, more pronounced at 47 mph, pretty bad at 63 mph, not so bad at 75mph.   Feels like the tires are out of balance. Feel it in the steering and dashboard, not a 'seat vibration' feel. Vibs started after I got 4 new tires. In the middle of a 2k mile trip I stopped at a Ford dealership; checked out under the car, found nothing to cause vibs.    Once home had the tires rebalanced - no difference. Had "road force' balance done - no idfference. Tire store has installed a 2nd set of (the same brand} 4 new tires. They told me the first set of tires were out of round. Does this happen????? On 4 tires at the same time??????No difference in vib. Truck has been to my mechanic to check out front end - found nothing wrong to cause vibs.   I'm going in to tire store for 3rd set of (different name brand) tires tomorrow. Anyone have any ideas what is causing vibs?   What needs to be fixed???

Hi

I would look at the drive line for your vibration. You could have a u-joint/s that have play.
you could have a drive shaft thats out of balance.

It is automatic trans. Long or short??? I think short - I have the 2 extra side doors, tho. Maybe like 6ft? bed.

LOL

ok with it being AUTO have you tryed to put it in NEUTRAL when driving?

what i'm trying to do is rule-out the drive line for vibrations.

so by putting the trans in neutral when driving will tell me/you whats going on.
