When cold starting my truck, the starter seems to engage ...

Sent to Car Experts October 01 12:03 PM

When cold starting my truck, the starter seems to engage for up to 3 or 4 seconds before the engine starts. However, once driven and then hot (or warm) started, it starts immediately. This problem seems to have been progressive, each time requiring more battery/starter time on cold starts. Any clue? Fuel pump?

You can test fuel pressure to verify fuel pump. another quick test is to cycle key on for a few seconds a couple of times before turning over. If it starts right up then suspect pump, but a pressure test and leakdown test should be done to verify. If this has been helpful an accept would be appreciated. Thank you Bill
