I recently had a new transmission put in my car, which is 1999 Mercury Sable. It appeared to be still delaying, so I took it back to the mechanic who suggested I needed to get a tune-up because it might be a engine problem. Took it to Goodyear, who not only test-drove it, who told me that it was shifting hard from first to second gear and I needed to take it back to the mechanic who did my transmission. The transmission mechanic placed it on his scanner previously and stated no codes appeared after he put in the new transmission. What should I do and what could it possibly be?

My car was delaying, so after taking it to a transmission mechanic he advised that it was an internal problem, forward clutch was burnt out, and a new one was supposedly put in.

If it has a delayed or harsh upshift, the pcm may need to be reflashed with the correct axle ratio code, some newer transmissions require the pcm to be reflashed for it to shift properly.

If he has the diagnostic scan tool capabilites to reflash the pcm.
