Sent to Car Experts September 26, 2006 10:21 a.m.

I have a 1991 Chevy S-10 v6 4.3 ltr. I am not getting fuel and I do not hear the fuel pump noise when the key is turned to the on position. My manual says to first check the fuel pump fuse in the engine compartment, but the problem is they do not say where and I can't find it. Once I verify the fuse is OK I am supposed to check the fuel pump relay (replace) . Any idea where the fuel pump fuse is?
Also, instead of hearing the fuel pump noice when the key is turned to on, after about 2 seconds I hear a click coming from the fuel pump relay and then another click in the throttle body right after. Is this normal, or does it indicate the relay or fuse is bad?

Thanks!

REPLIED Check Mark

Greetings! U could have a bad fuel pump. I would check the power wire going to the pump itself. This way if u have power, the fuse, relay ane all wiring ig good. This checks it all in once! That after u have verified power at the pump, I would rec to check fuel pressure. Fuel injected cars are very fuel pressure sensitive. Fuel pressure is very important and must be within specifications! U can get a fuel pressure gauge at a local auto parts store for cheap. Good luck!

Sorry, that did not really help at all, as I do not have the means to test the fuel pump. Like my manual says....always check the fuel pump fuse first, before anything else, but I do not know where this fuse is. Just trying to find out where it is?
