Question

All of a sudden my break lights stay in the on ...

All of a sudden my break lights stay in the on position event hough the break is not being depressed, i have checked the fuses, soi have no clue as to why the break lights won't go off. When the break is depressed there is no change cuz the light is constantly on, so it's like driving without brake lights at all

1997 Toyota corolla 1.8

Already Tried:
i took the fuse out and the light goes out but obviously there is no change when

Look under the dash, on the driver's side, where the brake pedal pivots. There is a switch on a bracket, which becomes depressed when the pedal is fully up. This is the Brake Switch, it signals the lamps to illuminate, and commonly fails. Disconnect it at the electical connector and see if the lamps turn off, if so the switch is faulty.

Can you tell me what colors the wires are on the switch you disconnected?

Do you have acess to a voltmeter for testing voltages? Thanks,
