1996 Neon 2.0 sohc
Starts fine. Has a random multicylinder misfire which is aggrevated by accelerating the engine. Has new plugs. Checked the fuel pressure. According to my guage it holds steady at about 50 psi even when it is misfiring. Not sure if it is in the ignition or in the fuel injection. On the road, it sometimes runs smooth at cruise speed. Other times you can feel the miss. When you start out from a stop it usually begins to miss while accelerating (especially if you do not accelerate very slowly). Number 1 oxygen sensor in running around 0.6-0.7 volts. Number 2 is showing 0.08 to 0.1 volts. Any ideas?

It is most likely Ignition related. The Ignition Coil Pack is a common failure on these, it can in some cases pass normal resistance testing as well. To correctly test, you would place the engine on an Ignition Osciliscope and monitor the Kv levels while accelerating. Below is a pic of the location of the Coil Pack.

Reply to RIP's Post: While I was waiting for a reply, I borrowed an inductive timing light and connected it to each of the plug wires one at a time. I could see the number one cylinder misfiring. I exchanged the number one and number 4 wires and retested. The misfire moved to the number 4 cylinder so I replaced the wires and the problem went away.
Thank you for your time. I'll still accept your reply.
