Bent Pushrods

The pushrods in my Chevy S-10 pickup 1984 Isuzu diesel suddenly bent or broke.
What probably caused this.
Can I take the pushrods from a like engine to replace the bent ones rather than replaqce the engine.

Bent push rods are caused by the valve hitting the piston - usually by over-reving can also lifter hanging up in the block.this can also happen if the timing is off. If a bent push rod is the only damage caused by this - consider yourself lucky. Bent valves and broken pistons are REALLY expensive to fix.

Replacement push rods are about $5 a piece (16 in a set). You should do the work yourself. Just remove the valve covers and rocker arms. Pull the bent rods, replace them, re-install the rockers, covers. then you ar ready to go
