Question

Ford F150

Sent to Car Experts September 21, 2006 11:52 p.m.

I have a 95 Ford F150 4X4. It makes a shaking sensation (like driving over small stutter dumps) at cruising speed at 30 to 45 sec. intervals between 35 and 65 mph. Not all the time it's intermittent. Doesn't do it under load. Checked the U-joint their good. Had the wheels re-balanced, didn't help. Any ideas ?

Optional Information:
1995 Ford F150 4X4 5.0

Checked U-joints and wheel balance

REPLIED Check Mark

If it feels like you are driving over a washboard road it is most likely a torque convertor shudder. Check the trans fluid and make sure it is full. It must be red, if the fluid is brown/broken down, the convertors shudder.Flush the trans fluid to change it all and add some friction modifer to the trans fluid(ford friction modifer for the differential).

ACCEPTED Check Mark

You can get any type of fricition modifier from your local parts store as long as it is for the differential(clutch plate)
