I just installed a remanufactered ac compressor, new accumalator and orfice tube on my 1998 S-10 with 4.3 V6. The problem is that the system wont take a charge. The compressor is cycling on and off, but no rushing sound from the refrigerant can and the accumalator is not geting cold. Yes, I did back the valve handle off the charging kit. Thank you for your help.

The first thing you need to do before adding any 134a is to pull a vacuum on the system to remove the air you introduced during the repair. That will get at least 1 can in the system quick. Then locate the switch on the accumulator and unplug it.Jumper across the connector to make the compressor run constantly for it to pull in any additional 134a.Do not overcharge the system or compressor failure will result.Do not use the 134a that comes with oil already in it.Did you add oil to the system after the repairs were done? You may also have placed the orifice tube in backwards it is possible. They have a small arrow on them indicating flow direction. You don't always get a rushing sound at the can sometimes it goes kind of slow.

It requires the use of a vacuum pump. You may be able to rent one at your local rental center.Other than that you would have to take it to a shop to be done.Buying one for a one time use would not be worth it they are not cheap.
