I have a 1994 3500 1 ton dueley. I was told 8 years ago that my injector pump was weak. I think it has finally bit the dust. I have installed a new injector pump.   Timing marks on pump and gears are lined up, but will not fire. What are some of the trouble spots that I should be checking?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The marks on the housing have to align-also the pin in the idler gear has to be in the right hole.If you used the starter to tap the engine over to get the bolts out ,odds are the cam key sheared-seen that a lot. Also you need glow plugs.Simple test light to each or a current test(each is 12 amps for a total of around 100 amps) the next is air.Remove the return hose and check valve-jumper the fuel pump relay to run and wait for fuel to come out of the pump.If there is no fuel odds are the lift pump is bad.Make sure you have no metal or rust in the bottom of you seperator housing and you will need a scanner to properly time this.Frank
