Sent to Car Experts August 26 12:57 PM

I have a 00 Honda Accord 2 door, with a driver side rear wheel vibration. The vibration goes away when going around a curve to the right. I thought it was the tire...so I rotated the tires because there was no vibration on the front. This did not change anything. I do not believe it is a wheel bearing because the sound disappears when going around a curve. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello!

Have you done the bounce test on the shocker? If not, carry it out.

If al is okay there, then:-

Jack the problematic wheel up and then rotate as fast as possible by hand and listen to it. It should not make any noise, if there is a grating or any noise then it is very highly likely due to the wheel bearing.

Also, grab the wheel at the top and bottom and shake the wheel by moving your hands in opposite directions to each other and feel for any play in the wheel. Do the same again but this time gripping the sides.

Any play indicates your problem and is usually the fault of the wheel bearing.

Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there.

Cheers

Geordie

Reply to Geordie's Post: There is a humming sound on the other wheel when I spin it. It does not sound like brake grind...so I am assuming you are correct and that it is the wheel bearing.

How do you replace?
