97 eclopse rs 2dr l4 sfi 16 v front wheel dirve. after getting this car I filled it up with gas. ( I think this was the first time in alone time that it was filled up). I drove away from the gas station and went home and the next day the car started fine. I went to one of my mechanic's to talk about removing the after market anti theitf device because when I fist started the car it would flask the blinkers for 2 minites then stop. He told me he did not have time to do it then so tried to leave only to find out that the car would not start. I left it with him and he changed the fule filter. The car did fine but I still needed to remove the flashing problem. I jued the entire tank of gas and was delited by the gas milage. I then filled it up again and drove to my next stop. when I came out the car would not start. it was towed by to the same place and he determinded that the fule pump was the problem. $400.00 later it was running fine, for one day. I started finding that it was getting harder to crank, but it would crank. I drove it to pick up my wife at her mechanice's shop where she was getting her ac charged and it happened again. being at a differant mechanics shop I was forced to use them to try to fiit the problem. the second shop removed the anti theft device and that stopped the flashing. but did not fix the fule problem. he removed the computer and ask me if the car had ever been under water. I ran a carfax on the car and found no listed water damage. also I saw no signs of water damage my self. he put the computer back in and the car started fine. I was unable to pick the car up for 4 days and was told that they started the car eash day and had no problem. I picked up the car and had no problem starting it that day. ( three or four times) the next day the car started fine the first time and then would not start. I wated a while and punped the gas 4 times. the car started after some turning over and then ran fine. I let it run for about 4 to 5 minites and turned it off. It would not start again after that. I feel it is the fule filter but I am told by the first mech' it is not. what is you take?
