Did you notice the last time they pump the vacuum pump on how long the vacuum pump stayed running. If after replacing the pump if the pump continues to run it will burn up the new pump. If it does continually run, I would be checking for a vacuum leak especially going down to the 4x4 hubs. I had one one time that the vacuum line was melted against the exhaust manifold, and when you turn it to 4x4 it bled all the vacuum off. So look real closely of all the vacuum lines. Then if that looks ok, I would plug off one side at a time at the spindle and see when you engage 4x4 which side might be causing the leak. The vacuum pump should run for about 3-5 minutes after key to run and stop. If it doesn't stop, then it might have a leak.
