hard starting chevy motor

After replacing the distributer on a SB chevy, and double checking it is pointing at the #1
tower on an HEI dist cap@TDC, the motor will start for a moment then pop gas out the carb mouth and flood out all the even cyliders on the pass side of the 307 CID engine.
It also puts gas into the oil after this happens. Do you know what the trouble may be, if so I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you Ron T
