Ford Contour

Sent to Car Experts August 20 02:50 PM

I have a 1998 4 cyl Ford Contour that I have been having issues with when it comes to the Battery light indicator. For the last year it has continually come on and then goes off. Some days it never comes on, some days it comes on and stays on but more often it's an on and off situation. I have had both the Battery and Alternator tested and both are fine. No one seems to know what the problem is. We have had the car tuned up hoping that would eliveate the problem, it has not. The car runs fine but the light is irritating. I am due to have my emmissions test soon and wonder if this light will cause a problem? Again I have been told no, that if it were my service engine light then it would be a problem. I have never seen a service engine indicator on my car, could you tell me where it is located? Or is the battery light the same thing? Thank you!
