What could cause front and rear electric windows to stop working at the same time on one side of the car?

Hello!

Usually this symptom is the result of a faulty driver's door window switch. 99% of the time a new switch will fix it.

The only other possibility for what you describe would be a broken wire in the harness where the wiring passes from the driver's door into the body of the vehicle in the door jamb area. I would suggest either taking the vehicle in to a repair shop to have the switch tested, or install a new switch to see if it takes care of the problem.
