Do you have headers?

It sounds like your starter is overheating, either because it needs a heat shield or because it is worn out.

What happens is that the armature inside swells from the heat or wear and drags/rubs inside of the starter causing a dragging/slow crank condition.

Hit 'Reply' (not 'Accept') to respond OK?

I've already relaced starter three times thinking it had to be starter. I have heat shield already.I also jumped with battery charger boost and it still dragged, which after I tested battery it tested good.

Do you know your compression ratio?

I rebuilt a '68 with a 9 1/2 to 1 and I had to put a high torque racing starter on it....but my starter problem was solved.

There are several kits made through different companies. What it amounts to is connecting the large positive to the smaller terminal where the key signal comes from. This makes the starter work whenever power is applied to the cable the starter turns. Then get a ford starter relay and mount it on the fender or fire wall. Wire the key feed to this relay and run one side to the battery and the otherside of the relay to the starter. You won't have any starting problems after doing this. The kits are in JEGS and other hot rod mags. Please accept my answer if satisfied.

Basically all that does is energize the relay at srarter when you have relay problem. It dosen't make starter spin any faster.

Believe me when I tell you it works. By moving the relay up top you get it out of the heat. Then by jumping the soliniod with the piece of metal plate you aliminate alot of resistance that you have when the soliniod gets hot and expans. I've put more than one of these in performance chevys and they have worked every time. Give it a try. Nothing else has worked for you.
