Failsafe mode 2005 Ford Freestyle
Sent to Car Experts August 19 01:24 PM

My 2005 Ford Freesyle has twice gone into a "failsafe mode" accordng to the mesage center..vehicle will only move with greatly reduced power..Turning ignition off then on again restores normal function. Both times this has happened after a period of idling in a parking lot with ac running on a hot day (ambient temp 88-95). Failsafe mode then occurs when vehicle is shifted into reverse to back out of parking space. What is going on here and how can it be fixed ?..My Ford service department doesnt seem to know..

Have your Dealer check for Software Updates on your Freestyle. They may not be aware of an issue related to the software. Otherwise, contact another Ford Dealer.
The Transmission may be the cause of the Failsafe Error, which is the issue for Software Update.
