1999 ecort 2.0 SOHC Almost ran out of gas made it to the station) since then running rough,stalling, lame excelleration only clears out at high engine RPM. could that messed up fuel pump and the engine light stays on and when it gets really bad the engine light blinks

looked at spark plugs checked fuel line pressure at injector manifold
