I have a 97 Chevy s-10 Blazer and it shifts really hard ...

I have a 97 Chevy s-10 Blazer and it shifts really hard into 2nd, and slightly softer into 3rd then normal into forth when i get off of the intersate after 30-45 min of driving. I am fairly certain the promblem is in the valve body. I need to know if I can fix this or replace the valve body. and second i need to know which trans i have. 4.3l auto 4x4
