1992 S-10 Chevy Blazer Sport hinge replacement
Sent to Car Experts August 02 04:49 PM

I recently purchased a 1992 S-10 sport Blazer. Both of the front door hinges need replacement. I thought this would be no big deal (I'm used to owning older vehicles that have bolt on hinges). My mechanic told me to take it to a body shop because the hinges are welded on and it would probably cost me around $1,500 to get the work done. I paid $2,000 for the vehicle. It seems ridiculous to have to pay that much to get replacement hinges installed. Are there any other options for this repair? Both doors still work but they sag.

do you need hinges replaced or just hinge pins and bushings replaced. The pins and bushings are cheep and most body shops and many auto shops will do them for a couple hours labor each. I would take it to a body shop and let them see if the hinges are in good enough condition to just do bushings and pins. you can try to do it your self but you have to unsure the holes the bushing are in are still round.
