Have an 89 Caravan. All the sudden the transmission ...

Have an 89 Caravan. All the sudden the transmission is sticking in 1st gear. No noise, No slipping, good power in first. Just won't shift up anymore.

Could this be something simple??

Do you have a 3 speed or a 4 speed (overdrive) transmission? If you have a 4 speed then it is in "limp home mode" and should be checked for transmission codes. You can reset it yourself by unplugging the negative terminal on the battery for about a half hour or so, but if it happens again you will need to bring it somewhere to have it checked out, at least have the codes read.
