sparkybuoy this is ron again with the 86 f150 put new relay in and grounding makes it click and the fuel pump comes on but thats the only way it works

If I remember correctly Ron, when you did that with the old relay it didn't pass current at all so it needed the new relay anyway.

That ground comes from the processor (computer)

You'll now need to check for the 5 volt reference at either the throttle position sensor connector or the EGR position sensor connector with the key on to make sure the processor's getting power and sending it out.

Also...that's an older EEC IV and there's a Processor main ground near the battery in a black kinda bullet shaped one wire connector that sometimes becomes unplugged or badly corroded.

Reply to Sparkybuoy's Post: sparkybuoy. at the egr. have 5.8 on the orange and white wire/16.0 on black/white and .448 on the brown/lt.green wire.may not have checked the throttle correctly,if it was the sensor i checked had 17 volts there, the ground is ok.
