Fraudulent Charges Auto Repair

Sent to Car Experts August 01 08:47 AM

do I have to pay for maintenance on a vehicle if there was never any authorization to perform service. Further is the shop has performed service prior to this and guaranteed their work but the vehicle had the same problem two days out of the shop. No authorization in writing was ever signed and now the shop expects me to pay another $2000 dollars to fix the same problem that said amount was paid for maintenance once before.

hello!

If the shop performed maintenance services or repairs without your authorization, you are under no obligation to pay for those services. Furthermore, in most states they cannot withhold your vehicle pending pending payment; the only method they ahve of securing payment for repair services is by taking he signed estimate or authorization for repair to court to obtain a mechanic's lein on the vehicle. if they have no such signed repair authorization, they would have a very difficult time in court forcing you to pay for those services.

As far as warranty on their repairs, their warranty policy should be printed on the repair order. If your vehicle still has the same problem after repair, they may be obligated to repair it for you again under warranty (you would have to consult an attorney with the specifics of your case for an accurate expert opinion on this matter).

I hope this is helpful; if so, pleae click my accept button! Thanks!
