Have 2000 ford ranger 4x4 cab and 1/2 four wheel drive ...

Have 2000 ford ranger 4x4 cab and 1/2 four wheel drive dosent engage. I tested with a test lamp on the eight wire plug thast goes into the transfer case motor and there is no voltage on any of the pins? Thanks for your help in advance.
