Question

97 Dodge Ram, Battery problem?

Sent to Car Experts July 25, 2006 10:50 a.m.

Thanks for your time,

I left my dome light on overnight. (1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4) Obviously, my battery died as I got nothing when I tried to start it. At that point, I put the charger on and left it there for 13+ hours. (charger showed 10+ amps being used for recharge until I had to take it off, its was near 0 amps being used) This morning I turn the key, after a brief ingnition "trying to catch" noise (which is unusual, its typically fast) the starter "caught" and I idled for a minute....I pressed the gas and the engine quitely "killed". I now get the ignition noise when I attempt to start but it never "catches"

1. How likely is this still my battery problem ?
2. Is there a way to tell the age (or remaining voltage) of my battery?
