Charging the AC system on an 03 Ford Explorer

Should I charge the ac system through the valve on the dryer or through the valvel on the line itself? The line valve is bigger and my hose attachment for charging the system wont fit it? However, my hose attachment does fit the valve on the dryer. Please help.
