I have a 1994 ford tauris sho with a 3.2 liter engine. The car was involved in a minor accident and sat up for about 9 or ten months. Now when I turn on the a/c I am not getting any cold air flow out of the vents. In fact I am not getting any air out of the vents in the cool position. I can hear the blower motor blowing hard and in fact I can feel just a little ice cold air seeping out the vents. It acts like the vents are stopped up . I can feel a little cold air coming out of the defrost vents. Is there some sort of switchover valve for the duct system that is not working? Any help would be appreciated. You most likly have a inoperative, blend door in the heater/ac box. The blend door is the only electronicaly operated door in the system. If the accident had any affect on it, it may have 'shocked' an already failing electrical actuator into failing. Unfortunalty, in order to access the component (on some models) half the dashboard has to be torn apart to successfully gain access. There is also a small possibility the control unit is faulty and not sending the signal to the actuator for the blend door. Below is the location diagram of the blend door, and also the wiring schematic for the system. If you'd like to verify the signal is being sent to the blend door actuator, test for good voltage (with an automotive multimeter) on the orange and dark blue/light green wires (behind the control head in the dash), these are the drivers for the actuator.
