sterring wheel vibrates only when the air is on
Sent to Car Experts July 17 03:35 PM

I have a 90 Camry, 136,000. My car was running fine until Midas told me I needed a mount replaced. After that my steering wheel and car was vibrating terribly. I then took it to Goodyear which told me that it was off balance and needed the other mounts replaced. Well, it helped some of the vibration for the car, but the steering wheel still shakes violently, (only when the air is on and when idliling). What could the problem be?. Please help......I'm not sure I can trust any of vendors out there. I even took my car to Toyota. There response was it's too old to spend any more money on it, and that the mounts were after-market, (not Toytota parts. Whatever.........Please Help!!!!

Toyota is correct about the Mounts, The too expensive part is your judgment. Camry's use hydrolic front and rear engine mounts to stabalize vibration throughout the vehicle. The deal is aftermarket mounts cost 1/3 less than the factory mounts. The factory mounts, are approximatly $186.00 a piece for the front and rear. If Midas and Goodyear charged you this amount for either of these mounts, have them replace the aftermarket with factory, if they didn't you may choose to have them replace them, understanding that you'll pay the difference. The factory mounts are crucial on this vehicle, I have replaced with both factory and aftermarket and there is a considerable difference in vibration between the two.
