Auto Air Conditioning

Sent to Car Experts July 16 06:26 PM

Hello,
I have a 2001 FORD FOCUS, and a 2000 FORD EXPLORER. Both are running on R-134a. I started getting hot air from the Focus. I went and got 2 cans of R-134a at the store. Hooked up, and started to charge. My Gauge says that it is in the GOOD Green zone. However, I can not get the Compressors to kick on, and all I get is Hot air.
On my EXPLORER, I had the compressor replaced 3 weeks ago, and never charged. So I started with an 18oz can of oil/freon mix. I still have nothing. The compressor will kick on for a little bit, then shut off again. I have to Vacum out the air from the lines? Or is someting else wrong?
Could you please reply?

Optional Information:
2000 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0L V6

Already Tried:
Recharge Both vehicles with 8oz. R-134a. and also Tried to release all pressure from High and Low sides.
