Question

EFI sensor?

Sent to Car Experts July 15, 2006 11:30 a.m.

The gal at the parts store attached her tester and it read that I had 2 sensors bad, thats why I didnt pass the smog test. So I replaced the air flow regulator(?) located next to the air filter (97 Explorer Sport, eng X) and passed smog. The chk eng light has been on for a couple of months and now t won't start, like its out of fuel or vapor lock (its summer in Vegas). For two days it hasnt started so I eliminated vapor lock. No doubt its the 2nd EFI sensor but I cant get it back to her so she can tell me what sensor or part or 'regulator' I need so I get it running! Any ideas would be appreciated!

Was the MAF (Mass airflow sensor) replaced with a factory unit?

How has the engine been running for the past months, since the MAF replacement?

Does the Check Engine Lamp illuminate now with the key in the ON position?

How many miles are on the vehicle?

Thanks RIP
I never replaced the MAF, I'm over due for scheduled maintenance, I have 117k miles on it,
runs great but it wouldn't start 2 other times in the past 6 months: first time it started after a 2 hour wait, 2 weeks ago I had to wait 24 hours, now its been 48
yes the check engine lamp is on while cranking

ACCEPTED Check Mark

If it wasn't MAF that was replaced, what sensor was it? (air regulator?)

If you press the gas partially to the floor, will it start?

Since you gave a time frame for this most recent occurance, has it fire this morning?
