Good evening Customer (name blocked for privacy).
On the head gasket question. Generally head gaskets don't leak oil. Not saying it never happens. It's just very rare outside of a few chrysler products. The head gasket is the gasket inbetween the cylinder head and the engine block. This gasket usually leaks water before it will leak oil. Now on the other side of the cylinder head is the valve cover gasket. These do leak oil. If you could double check where you see the leak it would help. If it is leaking from the top its a valve cover. If it is leaking aobut midway down its something else, possibly the head gasket. You can even post a picture of the leak, or post a link to it, if you have a digital camera. That would be great. Get back with me on this and we can go from there.
Now for the tail lights being on. Those may actually be your brake lights that are on. Not exactly sure of the specific set up on your vehicle. But we can check a few things and probably get you a temporary fix. Under the dash near the brake pedal arm there may be a mounted push button switch. This push putton switch is meant to be pressed in when the brake is not applied. This is done with a rubber grommet in your brake arm. What happens is that these grommets fall out, causing your brake lights stay on. Look for an opening, or a hole, in the brake arm. If you see one tape something over it for now to keep the switch pressed in. Then find the proper grommet later. Functional brake lights are very important. Especially for the guy tailgating you. If this isnt the problem we can go from there. This is common, and would be the first place I would look.
Get back with me.
Thank you
Dave
