i have a 1990 chevy silverado 350 auto transmission that stops running at operating temp only in gear only while at a stop   i have replaced idle air control   throttle positioning sensor map sensor temp sensor oxygen sensor and the ecm (computor) what am i overlooking??   this is driving me crazy!!   no codes.....except one from the brake light that was indicating a bad proportioning valve...which i have not replaced....one other thing the speedometor periodically acts erratic   please reply to richard   XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

changing parts including everything previously mentioned plus new plugs wires cap and rotor

You might want to check the transmission. what you might be experiencing is a torque converter lock up condition.The clutch in the converter is controlled by a solenoid in the trans that can stick closed not allowing the clutch to disengage, which will kill the engine at a stop.
