i have an intrepid 95 3.3 L. The engine start to flactuate and then shut off with a smell of gas in the exhoust. I got somebody to check it with the computer diagnose machine and he told me to change the idle control valve. I did that and run the car. it worked for an hr without flactuation then i turned off. next day i run again and found the engine flactuating as it was doing previously. another mechanic told me that the computer need to restart, i took off the battary cables and put it back after about 30 min but nothing changed. please let me know what might be the problem i should go after.

change the water thermomter
flush the cooling circuit
disconnect and reconnect the O2 sensor
