Need some help with a problem that happend over night

I have a 1990 ford continental 3.8 that has set up for about 8 years. The other day I went to start it and replaced the fuel filter and pump and it souded GREAT. I let it idle for awhile to let the oil run thru and it still ran and sounded GREAT. The next morning I went to start it up and I heard loud but light knocking noise even at an idle and driving. What could it be it just happend over night.
