I have a 1976 Corvette   350 Cu In. Automatic. Have put a new Edelbrock 650 CFM carb and manifold, new high cap. fuel pump, high perf. coil, new wires, relocated the fuel filter. When the weather gets warm after about 30 minutes of driving I get vapor lock that will stall the engine when sitting in traffic. Car runs excellent in cooler temps. The motor has headers, but no a/c.    The problem seems to come from the excess heat . . .any suggestions?

Optional Information:
Pre-1981 Chevrolet Corvette 350

Already Tried:
insulated fuel lines, new fuel pump, new carb and manifold, new coil, replaced wires, relocated fuel filter away from heat

Reply to Lurch's Post: It restart immediately. . . when stopped in traffic if I keep it in neutral with the engine reved to about 1000 rpm it won't stall

Reply to Lurch's Post: Idle rpm in drive with cold engine is about 600 rpm . When the problem happens the engine will continue to idle to stall. at 5 to 10 mph it sometimes will hesitate, but once it gets up over 1000 rpms it runs normally . . .first thing in the day when its cool out it runs without any hesitation. Moving the fuel filter behind the firewall into the wiper recess and replacing the stock rubber lines with heavier fuel injector lines has helped, but in hot humid weather I still get the stalling at idle or hesitation on acceleration. the fuel filter was located right above the header but I've moved the lines and relocated that. I've thought about venting the hood, but can't find appropriate equipment

Reply to Lurch's Post: The idle was adjusted by gauge. I don't have a plate under the carb, but I did order one but have not installed it yet. If I put the plate on I may not have enough air cleaner clearance which may necessitate a hole in the hood and hood scoop.

Reply to Lurch's Post: Yes, I put a 180 thermostat in the car, pulled the radiator and had it reworked and the engine temp doesn't go over about 190 even sitting in traffic. general driving temp is about 180

Reply to Lurch's Post: I've checked the float level, but will recheck with engine warm and idling. I think the 1" riser and the carb and the dropped air cleaner will be then next thing I will do. . I've ordered both parts from Edelbrock.
