Sent to Car Experts June 30, 2006 12:23 p.m.

I have a 2003 Ford Crown Vic (70000Mi) that pulls slightly to the right and an alignment shop stated that the Camber In can only be corrected by removing the Upper Control Arms and replacing Eccentics that must be ordered from Ford.
I have worked on my 83 F150 and adjust Camber In/Out using the threaded link connecters.
The alignment shop states the difficult and costly alignment process is due to poor front end design on Ford's part for the Crown Vic.
Can anyone confirm or debunk this procedure.

The shop is correct in the proceedure. Although it is not as difficult as they would make it seem. Using ford parts is recommended for this task. I used an aftermarket product once for this and had regrets in doing so.

Here is a graphic of the arm and components. The camber and caster adjustments are labled.

Having a properly alignment provides a safer ride, and increases the life of your tires and steering components. It may seem costly to have done, but it is even more costly to not have it done.

Hope this helps

Enjoy the weekend
