I have a 2000 Ford Windstar with Auto trans and overdrive. Purchased New. Have 53000 miles on now . Problem began last August 2005 with approximately 46000mi. Shuddering sensation when shifting. When first taken in to dealership at that time they said transmission fluid was 3/4 qts low. Still have the symptom. They did a flush on the transmission at 51023 miles. problems still there and still shudders.
It is prevelent when maintaining between 1500 and 2000 rpm's and keeping speed btween 35 and 40. Somtimes it happens when rounding corners. Also when i turn the Overdrive off it seems it goes into overdrive between the 35 and 40 mph speed and i notice that the rpm's drop just as it does when O/D is in overdrive. The dealer said that
it is locking down into 3rd gear. What is your opinion. Don't know what to do. They said they can't come up with something to tell the insurance company for warranty purposes. Could it be the engine is missing in someway?
