AC Dryer removel

I'm trying to change the AC dryer on a 93 Ford Ranger i cannot get the one pressure hose off the canister looks like there is a ring around where it connects,i took the clip off but do not know how to seperate for a new dryer can ?. Thanks Ron

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the question.

There is a special tool used for that connector.

Check the diameter of the tubing.

Go to your auto parts store and tell the manager that you are removing your dryer. Give him your information. He will show you an assortment of devices used for the new style fittings on your vehicle.

The tool is a split collar that you place over the tubing and press into the connector, which releases the spring pressure and you can pull the hose off. The safety clip is to avoid accidents.

Please remember that there are several types of these new connectors being used. And that you describe the connector correctly to get the correct tool.

Reply to Dinny's Post: I do not think that is correct as there is no way you can compress the solid steel flange that goes around the f tube on the dryer it is steel.
