First we need to verify which wheels are recieving pressure, by
having one side of the vehicle off the ground at a time and spinning
the wheels, with the brakes applied. First, lift the left side of the
vehicle (use jack stands) and have someone step on the brake pedal,
with the engine off. Attempt to spin both the front left and the rear
left wheels. Does either of them spin? If so keep a mental note of this
wheel. Do the same for the other side and let me know if all of them
are locked, or if any of them spin with the brakes applied. This will
help us determine if the problem is isolated to one wheel or the cause
of a possible master cylinder.
Also we will need to verify if the bunding comes from the hydrolic
system or the mechanical pedal assembly. So dissconnect the master
cylinder from the power booster, by unfastening the two retaining nuts.
You do not have to disconnect the brake lines from the master for this
test. With the master pulled away from the booster slightly, be sure
the pedal freely moves all the way down.
