If you had coolant running through the pcv it would go directly into your oil it would be milky and over-full due to the extra coolant in it. Is it possible you are looking at a coolant hose can you describe where the hose comes from and goes to?

Reply to Danny's Post: ok no idea where the hose comes from but it does connect to the PCV valve and connects to another hose that connects to the air filter

Or you positive it was coolant? it is normal for the pcv system to build a small amount of moisture in the system. I am confident that if your oil looks good then is not coolant but moisture build up. This build up is worse on cars that are driven a lot of short trips as the engine never get time to purge the moisture.

I do not think is related. I just do not think it is coolant there is nothing that can leak in to the PCV system when you have an internal leak it goes into the oil the may show up as a chocolate milk shake looking substance in the PCV system. I believe what you see is moisture build up could be that since you had hose leaks the PCV system could not pull a good vacuum and remove the moisture.

How hard is the car to start?

The only way to test for this is when you first start the car you will have to test for spark at the plugs. Then you would have to test fuel pressure that way if you have no spark or low or no fuel pressure then we would know which system to look at and test the ignition or the fuel. Also the PCM may have code stored in it even if the check engine light is not on Auto- Zone will scan it for free, this is what I would do first. I have had a few do this and there are a few possibilities.

1. fuel runs back to tank from pump check valve going bad.

2. Sensor, O2, coolant , mass air flow, Idle air going bad.

Does the car start then stall?

While the car is hard to start or if it does it every time check for spark at the plugs. If you have spark and it is still hard to start then its not ignition. Remove a plug wire and see if you have spark. If so then you can use a starting fluid see if it starts then it could be a fuel related problem or you can purchase a cheap pressure gauge to test the pressure while starting.
