Question

mechanical problem

Sent to Car Experts June 18, 2006 7:02 p.m.

My 1997 Ford F150 V8 has 209000 miles and has been a problem free vehical until about 6 months ago. I had a valve gasket replaced then and the problem I'm having now is similar. It is missing and jerking at lower speeds. I had a diagnostic run and they have "Po136 -O2S2 shorted Defective sensor Po401 EGR insufficient flow intake port plugged POWER BALANCE Misfire cyl. #2 intermittant miss on #6 & Random misfire cyl #8 Plugs carboned up. High resistance in plug wires". I had new plugs and wires 6 months ago and have put about 10,000 miles on since then. I feel like I am being taken advantage of since I am a women. Could all of this be needed? What should this all cost?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

The thing I'm seeing here is that one of those codes could be causing all the others.I recommend you disconnect the negative battery lead for 10 min.,then reconnect it.Take it for a drive until check engine light illuminates. Now drive to an Autozone or most any parts store and ask them to check the codes.("Hi,my check engine light is on.Can you guys retrieve codes from that for me?",or of the like.)Most do this for FREE.Write down the codes and post back.I would not take it to the same shop you've had it at.Always get a second opinion with problems like this.Coming to JA was a Great start.Post back with the new codes from the parts store. Please click my Accept button if this will be helpful.
